Why Choose a Doublet?
Unlike monoband dipoles or commercial gimmick multibanders, a well-made doublet with a balanced feedline offers:
- True multiband capability when paired with a tuner (internal or external)
- No traps, no coils, no compromises
- Extremely low feedline loss
- High power handling, clean radiation, and great efficiency across HF
All our doublets use premium wire, weatherproof center insulators, and are designed for low-loss operation even at high power.
Tested for compatibility with a wide range of tuners, including:
- JC4s Tuner (StockCorner)
-
Tuner Genius XL (FlexRadio)
- Icom QRP AH-705 (iCOM)
- Elecraft T1 QRP Tuner (Elecraft)
- Internal tuners of FlexRadio 6000 and 8000 series
Other decent quality tuners—especially those with balanced or high-impedance capabilities—will also work effectively with our Doublet Series.
Optional Accessories
For best results and versatility, we offer an optional Wideband 9kW ICAS 1:1 Unun / Line Isolator / Choke, ideal for:
- Connecting to a coax-fed shack tuner
- Feeding any remote tuner at the feedpoint
- Minimizing common-mode currents
You may also use your own Z-Match or balanced tuner. (We currently do not offer Z-Matches, but that might change in the future.)
Mechanical & Electrical Characteristics
- Power Rating: Matches the optional 1:1 isolator – up to 9kW ICAS
- Wire: Hard-drawn, tinned copper, XLPE sheathed, weather-resistant
- Center Feed: High-strength weatherproof insulator (with optional isolator add-on)
- Feedline Compatibility: 450-ohm ladder line or open-wire line recommended
- Mounting: UV-resistant top-mount system for carbon masts (6m, 10m, or 16m options)
Deployment Recommendations
- Install as inverted-V or flattop
- Optimal height: 10m or more (the POTA version @6m height)
- For best multiband results, use with a tuner or zmatch
SWR & Tuning Note
Each installation is unique. Factors like height, terrain, feedline length, and nearby structures can impact SWR and performance. For ideal operation:
- Use a balanced tuner or a 1:1 choke + tuner or a zmatch
- Keep feedline away from metal and grounded surfaces
- SWR typically <3:1 on most bands with proper feed and tuner combo
Conclusion
Whether you need a full-sized 160m performer, a compact POTA solution, or something in between — our Doublet Series delivers. Built for serious hams who value quality, flexibility, and long-lasting materials.
From shack to summit — go balanced, go Doublet.
