Fred ON6QR was the operator of MJ/OP2C/P, the callsign used by Radioclub Grimbergen NBT from Belgium, during the RSGB CW Field Day contest. He was very pleased with the station's performance, which earned them an impressive 2nd place in the QRP category. A big congratulations to Fred and the entire NBT team!
Their setup relied on a RF.Guru's 600-ohm open wire doublet CLASSIC and our trusted High Power +30dB CMR Open Wire Isolator (1.5–30 MHz). Despite operating at QRP levels, the benefits of our high-performance, high-power rated gear clearly shone through.
At RF.Guru, we consistently emphasize that our high power equipment is equally ideal for QRP operation. Why? Because of extremely low I²R losses, meaning every milliwatt counts—especially critical in low-power operations like QRP.
This result once again demonstrates how a robust, loss-minimizing antenna system can make a real difference in competitive operating.
And this isn’t the last you’ll hear of this doublet+isolator combo—they plan to deploy it again in future events!
