Inverted V Dipoles Antenna System (Wire & Accessories)
The RF.Guru Inverted V Antenna System is a heavy-duty HF wire antenna designed for 160 m, 80 m, 60 m, and 40 m. Built for high-power operation, this kit includes only the wires and mounting accessories needed to deploy on either a carbon mast (ladderline feed) or with a balun (coax feed). Baluns (6 kW or 9 kW ICAS) and carbon masts are available separately as complementary add-ons.
Band Options & Wire Lengths
Each model includes two high-quality stranded copper wire legs. You cut them to resonance and can use fold-back trimming for fine-tuning.
Band | Approx. Wire Leg Length (each side) |
---|---|
160 m | ≈ 40 m |
80 m | ≈ 22 m |
60 m | ≈ 15 m |
40 m | ≈ 12 m |
We deliver each leg with an extra 5 m length. This allows trimming to resonance, even in compromised environments (low height, nearby structures, etc.).
Feed Configurations
Choose the version that best fits your installation:
- Coax-Fed Kit — Includes 2 wire legs, 2 end insulators, 2 carabiners, 2 thimbles, and 2 bull-dog grips. Intended for use with an external 1:1 current balun (sold separately).
- Ladderline-Fed Kit — Includes 35 m of 600 Ω open-wire feed integrated as the first section of the dipole legs, plus insulated carbon pole mount, 2 insulators, and spreaders. Coax connects via an external 1:1 current balun (sold separately) placed at ground level.
This antenna requires tuning (cutting or folding back wires). It is not pre-tuned.
What’s Included
- User-cut wire legs (extra length supplied for tuning)
- Center insulator + wire spacers (ladderline version)
- End insulators, 2 thimbles, 2 bull-dog grips, 2 carabiners (coax version)
Complementary Add-Ons
- Baluns — 6 kW ICAS or 9 kW ICAS 1:1 current balun (weatherproof, high-efficiency)
- Carbon Masts — 6 m, 10 m, or 16 m lengths, compatible with the ladderline version
Installation Notes
- Recommended apex height: 8–15 m
- Leg angle: 90–120° for best impedance and pattern
- Wire end clearance: ≥ 2.5 m above ground
