FT140-43 Ferrite Core (Material #43)
The FT140-43 is a compact ferrite toroid made from material #43, providing reliable broadband impedance from 3.5–50 MHz. It is widely used for low- to medium-power HF baluns, ununs, and common-mode chokes where space is limited but performance is still critical.
Specifications
- Material: #43 ferrite mix
- Outer diameter: 35 mm
- Inner diameter: 22 mm
- Thickness: 13 mm
- Weight: ~120 g
- Frequency range: 3.5 MHz – 50 MHz
Typical Applications
- 1:1 and 4:1 baluns for portable HF antennas
- Compact common-mode chokes for coax feedlines
- Ununs for end-fed half-wave and random-wire antennas
- EMI suppression in HF bands where small size is required
For higher power or improved thermal handling, FT240-size cores are recommended. Mix 43 remains the best all-round HF material for compact designs.
