FT240-43 Ferrite Core (Material #43)
The FT240-43 is one of the most popular ferrite toroids for HF work. Made from material #43, it provides an excellent balance of broadband impedance and manageable losses across the 3.5–50 MHz range. A top choice for baluns, ununs, and common-mode chokes in amateur radio and EMC designs.
Specifications
- Material: #43 ferrite mix
- Outer diameter: 61 mm
- Inner diameter: 35 mm
- Thickness: 13 mm
- Weight: ~120 g
- Frequency range: 3.5 MHz – 50 MHz
Typical Applications
- 1:1 and 4:1 baluns for HF antennas (dipoles, OCF, EFHW)
- Common-mode chokes for HF coax feedlines
- Ununs for vertical and longwire antennas
- EMI suppression in HF bands
For LF or below 3 MHz, Mix 31 is usually better. For VHF, Mix 52 or 61 may perform more efficiently. Mix 43 is the “all-rounder” for HF amateur radio.
