Taoglas GW.53.A151 IP67 Wi-Fi Antenna (Terminal Mount)
Small, tough, and built for outdoor IoT.
The Taoglas GW.53.A151 is a super-compact 2.4/5.8 GHz terminal-mount antenna designed for reliable connectivity on Wi-Fi / WLAN and Bluetooth bands in harsh environments. Its IP67-rated silicone enclosure handles dust, dirt, and even temporary submersion ... ideal for sensors, gateways, and smart monitoring deployments.
Part number: GW.53.A151
Type: 2.4/5.8 GHz terminal mount antenna ... RP-SMA(M) straight
What Matters Most at 2.4/5.8 GHz
Ground plane and mounting dominate performance. Like most small terminal antennas, the efficiency and gain depend strongly on the size/orientation of the device ground plane. Taoglas provides performance data in free space and on two reference ground planes (15×9 cm and 9×15 cm) so you can estimate what to expect in a real enclosure.
* Best practice: keep the antenna clear of large metal parts, place it on/near a meaningful ground reference, and avoid detuning plastics filled with carbon/metallic additives.
Why the GW.53.A151?
- Dual-band coverage ... supports 2.4–2.5 GHz and 5.1–5.85 GHz
- IP67 rated enclosure ... built for outdoor and industrial environments
- Super small form factor ... compact antenna for tight builds
- 50 Ω, omni pattern ... predictable system integration for Wi-Fi radios
- RP-SMA(M) straight connector ... fast, robust terminal mounting
Installation Notes
- Connector: RP-SMA male (straight). Confirm your device has the matching RP-SMA female jack.
- Placement: mount where the antenna “sees” free space ... avoid pressing it against metal walls or large heatsinks.
- Ground reference: performance improves with an effective ground plane ... small devices often benefit from adding a dedicated ground/metal reference in the enclosure.
- Orientation: keep it consistent across units if you want repeatable RF results.
* If you’re migrating from SMA to RP-SMA, verify polarity ... RP-SMA uses the same threads as SMA but swaps the center pin/socket gender.
Operating Bands
- 2.4 GHz WLAN / Bluetooth: 2.4–2.5 GHz
- 5 GHz WLAN: 5.1–5.85 GHz
* Regional channel availability and power limits depend on local regulations and product certification.
Rugged Construction
- Encapsulation: silicone enclosure (durable and weather resistant)
- Ingress protection: IP67 rated
- Compact mechanical profile: Ø8.5 mm × 35.8 mm ... low visual impact, easy integration

Mini-FAQ
- Is this a Wi-Fi antenna or Bluetooth antenna? — Both ... it covers the 2.4 GHz band (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth) and the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band.
- What connector is it? — RP-SMA male (straight). Make sure your device uses RP-SMA, not standard SMA.
- Why do specs mention a ground plane? — Small terminal antennas “use” the device ground as part of the radiator system ... more ground reference usually improves efficiency and gain.
- Can I mount it inside a plastic box? — Yes, but plastics and nearby metal can detune and reduce efficiency ... keep it away from metal walls and avoid conductive/filled plastics near the antenna.
- Is it waterproof? — The antenna enclosure is IP67 rated ... system waterproofing still depends on how your enclosure and connector interface are implemented.
