VertX 32 × 5 m Radial Kit
Thirty-two equal five-metre on-ground radials for a dense, repeatable 360° VertX return-current field—160 metres of useful-length supplied conductor.
A simple 360° field that is straightforward to distribute, install and document.
The higher count does not come from replacing useful-length conductors with short wire.
More conductors and more total wire are useful facts, but neither alone proves lower ground loss.
A Dense Equal-Length Field With a Clear Boundary
The 32-radial kit extends the equal five-metre layout to 160 metres of supplied conductor. Rudy Severns' N6LF measurements show why count, length, soil and frequency must still be considered together: the kit is a strong practical VertX option, not a site-independent claim of minimum ground loss.
Compare the complete installation. Keep the radiator, coax route and measurement reference plane fixed. SWR alone cannot separate ground-system loss from the other resistive and reactive parts of the antenna.

Install Deliberately
- Distribute all 32 equal radials around the feedpoint as evenly as the site permits.
- Keep each conductor at its full five-metre supplied length unless the physical site requires a documented exception.
- Lay the wire on the soil, secure it with suitable staples or use shallow burial where local conditions allow.
- Install the complete radial field before final radiator adjustment or tuner setup.
- Route the coax deliberately and measure common-mode current when the feedline could become an unintended return branch.

- What lengths are supplied? All 32 radials are five metres long, for 160 m total wire.
- Why use equal five-metre radials? The field adds conductor count and angular coverage without making short radials the design objective.
- Is this always better than 24 × 5 m? No. It provides more equal-length conductor and coverage, but the installed difference depends on soil, layout, frequency and surroundings.
- When should final tuning be done? After the complete radiator, radial field and feedline route are installed.
