3.4kW IronWave 6 — Rugged Multiband Vertical for Serious Operators (40M-10M)

The IronWave 6 is a rugged, no-nonsense multiband vertical antenna built for operators who value simplicity, durability, and consistent performance across the core HF bands — all without needing to trim, tune, or fuss.

Out of the box, it delivers solid results on 40 m to 10 m paired with a decent ground network of 16–32 short 3 m ground radials.

But when re-configured with 4 tuned raised radials (~6 m each), the IronWave 6 transforms into a high-performance 30 m and 40 m DX machine — delivering stronger low-angle radiation and up to +4 dB gain improvement at key DX elevations compared to ground-radial use.

Note: In this configuration, 20 m to 10 m operation is no longer supported, as the raised radial system is optimized specifically for the lower bands.

Performance Overview

• Excellent performance:
  ✅ 20m, 17m, 15m, 12m, and 10m
  Ideal for DX and long skip, thanks to low-angle radiation from the raised feedpoint and vertical polarization.
  
  
• Usable with some compromise:
  ⚠️ 30m and 40m
  

  When used with ground-mounted radials, the IronWave 6 provides NVIS to medium-range coverage on 30 m and 40 m — useful for regional traffic, digital modes, and daytime propagation. A tuner is typically required due to higher SWR.

  However, when configured with 4 tuned raised radials (~6 m each), the IronWave shifts into DX mode for 30 m and 40 m — delivering lower-angle radiation ideal for long-distance contacts.
  Note: In this raised radial configuration, 20–10 m bands are no longer usable.

• Impedance transformation:
  The antenna includes a rugged 4:1 UNUN (available in 2.4kW or 3.4kW ICAS versions), bringing the feedpoint impedance within range for most modern tuners, especially on the higher bands.

  One-piece 6.0-meter vertical, made from the same 35mm OD / 2mm wall marine-grade aluminum (EN AW-5083) as our Solid-V Dipoles
  
  
• Mounting base:
  CNC-machined RVS 316 (stainless steel) base plate, 4mm thick
  Supplied with RVS 316 U-bolts, nuts, and fixings
  
  
• Optional radial plate:
  Made from RVS 316, fits poles up to 60mm diameter. Compatible with our galvanized ballast frame or your own pole.
  
  
• Feedpoint height:
  Raised to 1.1 meters above ground, improving low-angle efficiency and lowering ground losses
  
  
• Total height:
  7.1 meters from ground to top !
  
  
• Wind rating:
  Survives 160 km/h sustained wind with proper anchoring — storm-proof by design

Installation Notes

• We recommend at least 11 meters of 7mm or better coax to the shack to avoid interaction with the matching system
